Online group course to deal mindfully with fear, anxiety and uncertainty – with clinical psychologist and mindfulness teacher Steve Savels
These times of the rapidly spreading corona virus can be extremely stressful. Nobody knows exactly how things will evolve and how much we will be impacted. It’s perfectly normal to feel anxious and worried.
Yet, some people might feel it harder to cope with the current fear and uncertainty than others. Especially if you are already prone to anxiety and worrying in more normal times, this crisis can hit you hard.
Perhaps you are not sleeping very well, or you’re feeling a bit down or irritable. You might find yourself worrying about the health of your loved ones, or endlessly checking the news for any updates and getting ever more stressed. The crisis might already have very real effects on you, financially for example, which can impact your mood.
Although there are good reasons to be anxious, and there are not many things you can actually do about the whole situation – except following the safety guidelines and waiting it out – you can take extra good care of your mental health and sanity.
You can build inner resources of strength, clarity and calmness. Perhaps this crisis might be the opportunity for you to finally find ways to overcome fear, anxiety and panic.
In this online course we will specifically focus on how to deal with fear, anxiety, worry and panic.
You will learn:
- How exactly anxiety and fear work and what their impact is on your thinking and your behavior.
- How you can step out of the mental and physical ‘stress system’ and access the restorative ‘resting and soothing system’, even in difficult times.
- How to develop and apply tools and techniques from mindfulness and cognitive therapy to find inner calm and even joy again in the midst of uncertainty.
You will receive:
- Psychological insights into the mechanisms of fear, anxiety, worry and panic.
- Helpful tools and techniques (meditation and other) to overcome them and feel safer and more at ease.
- Access to guided mindfulness meditations
- Recordings of the sessions
Next to that, it will also be an opportunity to ask questions, connect with other people, share experiences and break the solitude built up by the quarantine.
